The Duanesburg Electric Eels is a year round competitive swim team. The team competes with both the YMCA and Suburban Leagues as well as in USA Swimming. Youth swimmers of all ages are encouraged to tryout for the team. We combine fun with competition.
The Duanesburg Electric Eels are a competitive swim team run by The Duanesburg Area Community Center. All students in grades K-12 are welcome to join. The Electric Eels introduce students to competitive swimming while building their skills. Whether you're a beginner or an advanced swimmer, there's a place for you on this team!
The club seeks to provide positive experiences for all its members by offering a program that is both challenging and fun at the same time. The program focuses on strokes development, swimming techniques and speed and endurance. We strive to develop character, sportsmanship, and swimming as a lifelong activity.
Instruction is given in all four competitive strokes (butterfly, back stroke, breast stroke and freestyle). Swimmers also learn racing dives, turns, and other rules of competitive swimming. The only prerequisite skills required to joint the Electric Eels are the ability to swim 25 yards freestyle and be "deep water safe." Swimmers will be divided into groups according to ability with some consideration for age.
The Duanesburg Electric Eels operate two swim seasons. The Summer season runs from May-August and the Fall/Winter Season runs from October-February. During the Fall/Winter season, the Duanesburg Electric Eels compete in the North Country League. During the summer season the team participates in the Suburban League.
